Çanakkale and its surroundings is a region where the Trojans first lived in 3200 BC. Later on, the Achaeans, Spartans, Persians and Macedonian Alexander succeeded in establishing superiority.

However, the struggle of domination between the death of Alexander and his soldiers worked for the Roman Empire and the Romans captured the Dardanelles area. When Rome broke up, the region became Byzantine. Although the hounders also dominated the region, this did not last long.

With the establishment of the independent Republic of Turkey it was also Çanakkale province.

The common economic activity in Çanakkale is agriculture. The territory of the region is extremely fertile and the climate is suitable for agriculture. Many varieties of vegetables and fruits grow with barley, wheat, sesame, tobacco, and its approach. Good yield is obtained from grapes, peaches, pears, cherries, plums. In addition, many vegetables such as eggplant, pepper, tomato and spinach cabbage are grown in Çanakkale.

Livestock activities such as sheep, goats, cattle and bees are common. In addition, fishing is among the most important livelihoods of the region. Fish diversity is also quite high.

More than half of the territory consists of forest areas. Therefore, forest products are one of the most important economic areas of the surrounding villages.

Çanakkale Martyrdom & Martyrs’ Memorial

Çanakkale Martyrdom & Martyrs Monument, built in the memory of Turkish soldiers who died in the Battle of Çanakkale in 1915 when World War II took place, welcomes all patriots since the day it was opened to visit.

 

Troy Ancient City

Kilitbahir

Kilitbahir, built by Fatih Sultan Mehmet and home to a castle that managed to survive without any damage, means sea lock and deserves to be visited and seen as a village located in Gallipoli Peninsula.

 

Conkbayırı

The city of Conkbayırı, where the Battle of Conbayırı, where Mustafa Kemal Atatürk returned from death thanks to the clock in his chest pocket, is one of the must-see places when he comes to Çanakkale with a big history he witnessed.

 

Çanakkale Naval Museum

In addition to informing about the 1915 Naval and Land Wars, Çanakkale Naval Museum located in the center of the city was established to protect the Çimenlik Castle and the historical monuments and items in the castle and always await its visitors. 57th Regiment Martyrdom and Monument

In the Battles of Çanakkale, the 57th Regiment Martyrdom, which was built in memory of the 57th Regiment soldiers under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Hüseyin Avni Bey, has been flooded since 1992, when it was opened to visitors.

 

Clock Tower

Çanakkale Clock Tower, located in the heart of the city, is a building built in 1896. In addition to its height of 20 meters, it attracts attention with its aesthetic architecture. There is a fountain at the bottom of this 5-storey tower with a dial with a dial at the top.
